Relocation decisions can be influenced by factors beyond the control of the decision maker/s. The illustration below shows how the three most common factors (cost, availability and timescale) can compromise an ideal option being selected.
It illustrates how, if the most important factors are availability and cost, the timescale may need to be reviewed and revised. But if the most important factor was, say timescale, the effect of the pull would force the chosen location higher up the triangle. And timescale and availability are often the two most important factors and can cause costs to increase. But the ideal remains to keep all three in equal balance with each other.
