The US based pharmaceutical company Biogen wanted to set up new and expanded facilities in the UK and needed assistance to help find the right location and to acquire suitable premises. Business Moves Advisory Centre was selected to carry out this assignment, working very closely with Biogen's Paris based European Financial Director, James Kirkness.
- At the outset we reviewed the criteria Biogen had drawn up for their new location, site and offices and, guided by these, established the geographical boundaries for the prime search area.
- Within this area we started by identifying a number of potentially suitable locations and then testing to see if they contained premises that might be suitable for Biogen
- Where they existed we visited the locations in question and "walked the floor" of what seemed like potentially suitable offices and produced an initial 'long list'. Details of all these potential candidates were then written up and forwarded to Jim Kirkness.
- After discussing the merits of each property we arranged for Mr Kirkness to visit (with a US colleague) those we had decided should be short listed.
- We then arranged an itinerary, showed them around each location and property, provided more detailed information, answered their questions and provided our recommendations
- We were then instructed to act on behalf of Biogen and negotiate with the landlord's agents to broker a deal for a lease on the selected premises in Maidenhead
This deal was consummated within eight weeks and Biogen commenced operations there within three months. |
